Optimizing E-Commerce with PUDO: A Comprehensive Guide to Pick Up Drop Off Collections
Although delivering parcels at customers’ doorsteps is still quite common, consumers are increasingly open to alternatives. PUDO delivery points are spreading over the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. We asked Landmark Global’s expert Astrid Van Reempts to tell us about the ins and outs, as well as the benefits PUDO brings.
Did you know that customers value your e-commerce more if they can choose from multiple delivery options? They appreciate parcels being delivered not only at home, but also to other delivery points close to home or work. This interest in additional delivery locations is driven by both convenience and increased sustainability awareness. We discussed all this with Astrid Van Reempts, who, as Director Network, Product and Marketing, explains how Landmark Global has globally addressed this with its PUDO service.
Understanding PUDO: A Game-Changing Delivery Solution
‘PUDO stands for Pick Up Drop Off. A PUDO location is a place where a customer can collect parcels and drop off returns. These locations can often be found within retail convenience stores, news agents and petrol stations, as well as dedicated parcel shops and parcel lockers. PUDO locations are typically close - this means within 10 to 15 minutes travel time - to consumers’ homes, shopping locations and commuting routes. Many of these locations have long opening hours up to 24/7 in the case of lockers.‘
The Benefits of Offering PUDO Delivery Options
‘We find that more and more consumers prefer to have their parcels delivered outside their homes. While this is well established in Scandinavia (Denmark, Finland, Sweden), it is also on the rise in the UK, EU and other key e-commerce markets. Consumers also find PUDO locations to be more sustainable, as they come with a lower carbon footprint than home deliveries. E-tailers and logistics providers like us are also aware of this. For Landmark Global it means we can reduce delivery costs, which also translates into lower costs for consumers, making it a win-win situation for all parties involved.

Expanding Your Reach with PUDO: Global Coverage and Integration
'Landmark Global offers an extensive network of more than 70,000 PUDO delivery points spread across Europe. Beyond the EU, we offer PUDO coverage in the UK and Norway. Further away, Israel is our most recent addition to global PUDO coverage, with Australia coming next. As my colleague Steve Meadows, Director of International Network puts it’, “Wherever there are PUDO networks, Landmark Global will continue to integrate those, to meet global consumer demand for out of home delivery.”
PUDO is more than ever a key requirement for our international e-commerce customers - because of convenience, cost and sustainability. Landmark Global's services give us PUDO delivery coverage in Europe and we hope this will be rolled out to the rest of the world in the near future.
Seamless PUDO Integration: A Step-by-Step Guide
‘It's quite simple, as we’ve done all the heavy lifting for you. You only need to integrate a single API into your check-out area. Your end-consumers then select the most convenient delivery point at the checkout, with the information of their selected point returned in the delivery service API data. And in case you want an even simpler check-out process, we also offer a PUDO service that defines the delivery location based on the address supplied by the consumer. The post-checkout solution then picks the closest PUDO point, based on distance.'
Key benefits of PUDO:
- Increased customer convenience: no waiting at home or rushing to the post office
- Less chances of missed (delayed) deliveries
- Decreased risk of packages being lost or stolen
- Reduced fuel emission and carbon footprint
- Customers appreciate having more than one delivery option
