Shipping to Switzerland has long been seen as complicated and expensive for smaller online sellers. Between customs paperwork, duties and VAT registration, many e-commerce businesses in the EU have avoided expanding there altogether.

We sat down with Heidemarie Biebert, Network Director at Landmark Global Eurasia, to talk about the company’s newest solution: the Switzerland Lane, a dedicated route designed for small and medium-sized e-sellers in Belgium and the Netherlands looking to reach Swiss customers quickly and affordably.

Q: What is this new lane, in a nutshell?

Heidemarie: The CH Lane is a new end-to-end DDP solution built for small and medium-sized companies in the Netherlands and Belgium who want to ship to Switzerland but don’t have large volumes. It’s designed for flexibility: you can start small, even with a handful of parcels per week, and still benefit from an efficient, express-level service at an economy price.

Q: What kind of companies is this service meant for?

It’s particularly attractive for medium and smaller e-commerce retailers who have steady but limited international orders and want to grow in the Swiss market. Until now, most cross-border shipping solutions to Switzerland were designed for larger exporters with consolidated volumes. Smaller senders were often turned away or faced uncompetitive rates.

Q: Why is now a good time to start shipping to Switzerland?

Many sellers still think Switzerland is a difficult market because of customs and duties, but that’s outdated. Since January 2024, duties were abolished for most product categories, except for agricultural goods. That means e-sellers only need to manage VAT, which is much simpler.

Our solution helps clients with the VAT process even if they don’t yet have a Swiss VAT number, we can assist them getting set up. So there’s really no barrier anymore.

Shipping to Switzerland has become far simpler. Landmark Global is making it even easier.

Q: How does the CH Lane work in practice?

It’s a fully managed service from pickup from one of our international hubs in The Netherlands or Belgium to final delivery. Landmark Global handles every step of the process: sorting, customs clearance and ultimately delivery in Switzerland through trusted local carriers.

Because we consolidate volumes from multiple clients, even smaller senders benefit from the same speed and reliability as larger ones.

Delivery takes about three to four days door-to-door, with two delivery attempts included.

Q: What makes it “express service at an economy price”?

The efficiency comes from our network design. We combine parcels from various shippers moving through the same route, so transit times stay short, but the overall cost remains low.

It’s a fast, cost-efficient way to open a new market without the risk of high entry costs.

Q: Why launch from Belgium and the Netherlands first?

These countries are major e-commerce export hubs and many small and medium businesses there already use Landmark Global for shipping to France, Italy, Spain etc. Now, they can simply add Switzerland to their routes with the same transport and handling process as is today. It’s a natural next step.

Q: What would you say to a seller still unsure about shipping to Switzerland?

I’d say it’s much easier than you think! There are no duties anymore for most goods, the customs process is fast, and with Landmark’s DDP setup, you don’t have to manage any paperwork yourself.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’d like to reach Swiss customers, but my volume is too small,” then this is exactly the solution for you.

The takeaway

The CH Lane makes cross-border shipping to Switzerland simple, fast, and accessible for small and medium e-sellers in Belgium and the Netherlands. With 3–4 day delivery, full customs handling and transparent VAT processing, it removes the last obstacles to entering one of Europe’s most stable and high-value e-commerce markets.

The e-commerce delivery landscape is changing. Pick-up and Drop-Off (PUDO) points, convenient locations where customers collect parcels and return items, all have evolved from a niche alternative into an essential delivery strategy for modern online retail. This evolution reflects converging shifts in consumer priorities, including convenience, security and sustainability, as well as operational advantages that benefit both sellers and logistics providers.
